Carbon Neutral Event Progress Report

Overview

The National Carbon Management Association (NCMA) is proud to officially recognize the Turner & Townsend India Leadership Meet as a Carbon Neutral Event. This status was achieved through a rigorous verification assessment done by Costmos Pvt Ltd and UNFCCC verified offset. Through our Carbon Neutral Event Program, Turner & Townsend Pvt Ltd. has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action.

About the NCMA Carbon Neutral Event Program

The Carbon Neutral Event Program is designed to help organizations measure, reduce, and offset the greenhouse gas emissions associated with events.

The program follows a three-step process:

Measurement

The greenhouse gas emissions generated during the event are calculated based on activity data such as travel, electricity consumption, catering, and materials.

Reduction

Event planners implement strategies to minimize emissions wherever possible through sustainable planning and operational practices.

Offsetting

Remaining emissions are neutralized through carbon offset projects such as renewable energy initiatives, climate mitigation projects, and tree plantation programs.

These initiatives contribute to global climate mitigation efforts such as those promoted under the Paris Agreement.

Carbon Footprint Assessment

To accurately gauge the environmental impact of the 3-day leadership meet in Goa, a comprehensive assessment of the event's emissions was conducted. This included evaluating attendee travel, venue energy consumption, accommodation, food and beverage provisions, and waste generation.

  • Verified Carbon Footprint: 41.76 tCO₂e (tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent).

  • Assessment Methodology: Standardized carbon accounting protocols to ensure high-fidelity data.

Neutralisation Strategy

Following the carbon assessment by Costmos Pvt Ltd, Turner & Townsend successfully neutralized the event’s environmental impact by investing in national climate mitigation projects.

  • Carbon Credits Purchased: 48 Credits

  • Sourcing: United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

  • Net Impact: By purchasing 48 credits against a 41.76 tCO₂e footprint, Turner & Townsend successfully neutralised 100% of the event's emissions while contributing an additional 15% toward global climate mitigation projects.

Official Recognition

Based on the assessment reports provided by Costmos Pvt Ltd and the successful retirement of UNFCCC-verified credits, the NCMA has issued a Carbon Neutral Event Certificate to Turner & Townsend Pvt Ltd. This recognition highlights the organization’s proactive approach to sustainability and its commitment to India's net-zero aspirations.

A formal Carbon Neutral Event Certificate has been issued to Turner & Townsend Pvt Ltd. in recognition of this milestone.

Conclusion

By successfully integrating carbon management into their corporate event strategy, Turner & Townsend sets a powerful precedent for corporate sustainability in India. The National Carbon Management Association commends their leadership in prioritizing the planet and looks forward to supporting their continued environmental stewardship.
